The Microscope: A Tool for Scientists
Microscope: An instrument with powerful lenses that magnifies very small things so that they can be seen and studied
Microorganisms: Living things which are too small to be seen without the aid of a microscope
Cell: The basic unit of all living things
Cytoplasm: The jellylike matter inside a living cell
Cell Membrane: The thin covering of a cell
Electron Microscopes: A large machine which uses a beam of electrons to magnify the image of an object
The Electron Microscope was recently invented in the 1930’s. This new invention enabled scientists to observe inside of the cells.
Draw a picture of a Prokaryotic cell. Draw a picture of an Animal Eukaryotic cell. What are the main differences?
