Science: Review of vocabulary: classification, taxonomy, Carolus Linnaeus
               Assignment: To pay attention to how food has been 'classified' on the shelves of the stores we visit. What are the shared characteristics? Begin silently the next chapter in Science book this afternoon.

History: Review and ask questions from readings.
               The Nile River is on the continent of Africa. Every year the Nile would flood. The king of Egypt became known as the pharaoh. Why did the Egyptian farmers like to see the river flood? It would bring up fertile soil for planting. The Egyptians were among the first people to use writing. They wrote with pictures called hieroglyphics. The people who lived in Sumer found another way to write using wet clay. They wrote with pictures called cuneiform. The Egyptians carved their pictures into stone tablets. Where is Mesopotamia? between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The Egyptians learned to make a special kind of paper called papyrus.

Writing: Daily Journal: Coliseum Page, and begin next verse.

Recitation: Both verses learned this week.

Read Aloud: Burgess Animal Book, chapter 1, p4-6
